It is a good thing for people in senior management positions to get a higher salary than other workers in the same company. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

练习

It is common in an enterprise that senior manager can earn more money than others. Although some negative effect may appear, I personally maintain that it is helpful to an enterprise.

One advantage is that a higher salary in management positions can strongly improve the productivity of a company. To improve the standard of life, many people have a strong willing to get a high-salary job. If there exists a dramatic difference of salaries in different levels of position, they will have a strong willing to improve their positions. The consequence is that, employees may compete with each other at work and try to do as many tasks as they can for a chance of promotion. Under this atmosphere, the efficiency of a company will definitely see a great improvement.

Appealing more outstanding people to join the company is another advantage. While the job market is more and more tensive nowadays, people who have special managing skills are still luxuries. When they choose which company to go, the salary is always the most significant factor for them to consider. If a company is willing to pay them much more than an ordinary employee, they will probably choose to join it. With their perfect ability of management, this company can save much more money than it costs.

On the other hand, the drawback of distinguishing salary is that some employees may feel unfair because of the unbalanced salary, because they are also devoted themselves to the work. As this kind of gap becomes wider and the opportunities of promotion fade away, people in ordinary positions will lose the passion for their vocations. The productivity is expected to, thus, get through a large decrease.

To be concluded, the difference in salary can attract people with good abilities to the managing position, while having a negative effect on other employees in this company.

On the other hand, the downside of salary differentiation is that some employees may feel unfairly paid because they are also dedicated to their work. As the gap widens and opportunities for advancement diminish, people in ordinary positions will lose their passion for their jobs. As a result, productivity is likely to fall sharply.

In conclusion, the pay gap may attract people with good skills to the management position, while having a negative effect on other employees in that company.
